Just picked up my 2025 TRD Off-Road Premium Hybrid… loving it so far

Got this the day it arrived and I’m really enjoying it. It’s fully loaded with features:

  • 3/4 Roof Rack
  • TRD Pro wheels

I’m curious about how heavy it is and what you think of how it drives and accelerates. Have you owned a 4Runner before?

Planning to take it off-road?

I don’t know the exact weight offhand.

It drives really well—steering is tight, it handles bumps smoothly, and the cabin stays pretty quiet. I used to drive an Audi SQ5, which was fast and smooth. The hybrid 4Runner feels quick up to about 40 mph, which is where the hybrid system seems to do best. I don’t feel like it’s underpowered at all compared to my old car. The top-end speed isn’t anything crazy, but the engine doesn’t feel strained either. It actually feels like it has more to give, probably just tuned down like Toyota usually does.

I’m planning on doing some light off-roading and camping up in the Colorado mountains.

I switched from an F150 PowerBoost (hybrid), and the 4Runner handles Colorado’s rough dirt roads well—but the gas mileage is bad. I didn’t get the premium off-road trim, so I miss some of the tech from my F150. It is nice having more weight over the rear axle though. There are pros and cons. It drives great, but yeah… really poor fuel economy.

@Nidra
Which model year did you get, and what kind of gas mileage are you seeing?

Not answering for them, but I also just got the hybrid off-road premium. I’m averaging 19.9 MPG.

@Ellery
How fast are you usually driving on the highway?

Usually around 75. I live in Florida and the interstate speed limit is 70, so I don’t have much choice.

How much did you pay before taxes and fees?

It was about $63,000. The wheels and roof rack added around $3,000—that’s just how it came spec’d, I didn’t choose those.

Big spender! Nice ride.
