Looking for tips on my 2008 Toyota Yaris Sedan

I’ve noticed that my Yaris is a bit slow. Is there any way to upgrade or improve the car’s performance? Thanks! :pray:

Not really. The 1NZFE is more of an economy engine, and there’s not much aftermarket support for it. If you want more power, you’ll likely need to go the standalone ECU route.

~~Just to clarify, the Yaris Sedan is actually based on the Mazda2, so it probably doesn’t use the 1NZFE but rather Mazda’s Z*-VE: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda2~~

@Max
The 2008 Yaris sedan wasn’t the iA; you’re thinking of a model that came out over a decade later. The Yaris sedan was based on the Japanese Belta.

The US version only came with the 1.5L 1NZ-FE. I have one parked in my driveway.

Ah, my mistake! Thanks for the info.

No worries! It’s always good to learn something new. We all learn from each other, and that’s how we grow. Knowledge is key!

Not exactly what you’re looking for, but Joey races his Yaris HB. You can check it out here: https://youtube.com/@rassoolracing

Lol, it was really designed to be a commuter car. With the 1.5 engine, any performance boost you get will probably come at the cost of worse fuel economy, which is its main selling point. A K&N intake might give you an extra 4 HP, but then your city MPG could drop to 24-26 at best.

Thanks, everyone! I’m probably going to get rid of it soon. In the US, with our wide roads and high speeds, you really need a quicker car to get around. Anyone interested? I’m looking to sell it! :joy:
