I own a 2020 RAV4 Hybrid AWD. Recently, Europe experienced cold weather, and during this period, I received a “Hybrid System Malfunction” message on my dashboard. There were no accompanying red or yellow check engine lights, just the message itself.
To investigate, I used an OBD2 reader and discovered the following HV Battery ECU error codes: P0AA6, C0901, and P1C80.
I promptly took the car to the service center, but due to a backlog, it had to wait a few extra days before being checked. I’m concerned about the issue. Do you have any insights into what these error codes might indicate?
hi toyota fans
a malfunction in a hybrid system can disrupt the smooth operation of your hybrid vehicle. It can affect fuel efficiency and performance, and it may even cause the car to go into limp mode.
Seeing a “Hybrid System Malfunction” message can be scary, especially in a new car like your 2020 RAV4 Hybrid AWD. Cold weather got your 2020 RAV4 Hybrid showing a “Hybrid System Malfunction”? Don’t panic! No red warning light suggests a minor glitch. Codes point to battery voltage. Service center is best, but cold weather affecting hybrids is a known thing. You might find similar experiences online!
A malfunction in the hybrid system of your car means there’s an issue with the complex interplay between the electric motor and gasoline engine that powers it.
Could be a corrosion problem with the high-voltage cable. It’s protected by the warranty. Towing a flat bed is required to any Toyota dealer. 90% of the time, I think this may be the case for a 2021. It is quite improbable that the DC-DC, which only charges 12V, is the cause. Who knows, though? Please update us.
