Modernization of the Yaris

Hell yeah, looks rad!

:facepunch: :grin: Amazing!

I want to do something similar to my '07 Yaris.

That looks so good! It really gives the car interior a more modern vibe. Do you know where I can find an Apple CarPlay monitor for my '04 Yaris/Vitz?

I think Amazon or AliExpress would have them. AliExpress also has a backup camera that fits flush into the license plate light, so I’ll share pics of that once it arrives.

@Magdalina
I currently have an old Panasonic monitor without Bluetooth and other features. It came from Japan and I use it for the camera (yes, it has a backup camera too). I want to find a new monitor without having to replace my camera, if possible. Thanks for the advice, I’ll check Amazon/AliExpress!

@Wayne
You should be fine with the camera as long as it has an RCA connection. The deck has RCA input for the reverse camera and a video input too. I wonder if I could plug in a video game console. :thinking::joy:

Is it a Junsun infotainment system?

Cool! How’s the performance? Is it more like a smartphone or an ATM?

I had a similar setup on my '06 Civic. It had built-in Android, a SIM card slot, and a GPS module. Most Android apps worked on it, and I could even play games and watch movies. It was about $200.

Now with my '23 Yaris, I want to punch the infotainment every time I see it. Its performance, usability, and overall UX are below any standard I can imagine. I hope I can swap it out after I finish leasing.

@Archer
It’s pretty responsive compared to the head unit in my '18 Si. Most OEM head units tend to lag. With this unit, I can tether it to my phone and watch YouTube. I think I’ll also be able to download other apps. It took some effort to get CarPlay to connect, but eventually, it worked. Now it connects to the deck wirelessly… still not sure how I did that.

I did something similar 6 months ago when I got my Yaris, and it made a huge difference in driving! The sat nav works like a dream.

I changed the exact same things inside! Looks dope.

Beautiful!!

Very nice!! Looks awesome. What are the lights powered by?

I also installed a multimedia screen, and it came with 2 USB ports. I connected these 2 lights to the ports, hiding the cables behind the screen, so I can charge my phone using the lighter power supply.

They’re powered by the 12V socket, but you can get USB-powered ones too.
