Wait, they made these with a V8? I had no idea! Which engine is it? I remember the 4th gen having the 4.7, but didn’t know the 3rd gen could come with a V8.

You’re right, my mistake… it’s actually the V6 VZ engine.
It’s funny how people from here want to import Japanese vehicles like the Hilux, but over there, they want to get our Tacomas and 4Runners!

Yeah, at least Japan can import American cars, but here in the U.S., we have to wait 25 years to get imports like this legally.
I have a Japanese Legacy wagon myself. I even saw someone from Japan with a U.S. Legacy sedan. Seems funny since their 2.0 GT engines are more solid than the 2.5 we have here, plus the build quality from their factories is top-notch.

We actually got this model here in the U.S. too, with the V6 and automatic. Only difference is it’s left-hand drive and has different badges.

Oh, my bad! It’s the 5VZ-FE V6 engine – I thought I read UZ somewhere and got mixed up.

Gotcha, but that would actually be pretty awesome to swap one of the UZ V8s into this generation… that’d make for one crazy build.

Definitely! People have done 1UZ swaps into these 3rd gens before.
Where did you buy it? Was there a specific site you used?
Everyone here could use a quick Google… 3rd gens never had a V8 as an option.
