Hey everyone,
I bought a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid last year with 170,000 miles for $5,000. So far, I’ve replaced the tires and brakes, and overall, the car runs great—no major mechanical issues.
But recently, the check hybrid battery light (along with some other warning lights) came on. Took it to the dealership, and they told me I need a hybrid battery replacement. Their quote? $5,500. As a student, that’s way out of my budget.
Checked trade-in options, but dealers are only offering me $500—which isn’t ideal, especially since I’m still paying off the car.
I’d love to keep the car running without breaking the bank. What’s the best move here? Refurbished battery? Third-party mechanic? DIY repair? Any recommendations for reliable, lower-cost options?
Would really appreciate advice from anyone who’s been through this. Thanks!
