New car love... but is the warranty really worth it?

Just traded in my 2018 Model 3 for a 2025 Camry XLE and… I’m obsessed. Can’t get over how smooth and upscale it feels—and that red paint is seriously stunning in person.

I really want to keep this car in great shape long-term, which brings me to a question: I was offered an 8-year warranty for $1,572 with 0% financing. I know Toyotas have a solid rep for reliability, but I’m not sure how well things like the hybrid system, electronics, and moonroof will hold up over the years—or how pricey repairs and maintenance could get if something goes wrong.

Would you recommend taking the warranty at that price, or is it smarter to invest/save the money instead? I’m leaning toward skipping it, but figured I’d consult the Camry brain trust first.

As for the purchase: $37k before taxes, Premium Plus package. It came with tinted windows, mud guards, rear spoiler, cargo net, and bins. Out-the-door + trade-in price felt reasonable enough that I didn’t bother haggling over the extras. I’m in Texas, for what it’s worth.

I paid a couple grand extra for the warranty just to get a better financing deal. Honestly, going from 38k to 40k didn’t really bother me for some peace of mind lol. If you can swing it, sometimes it’s just worth it for the less stress.

FYI—dealerships mess with finance rates if you agree to buy the warranty. But you can cancel the warranty later and keep the rate  It’s a Camry, you probably won’t even need it.

I paid $1900 for my '99 Camry. Warranty? lol nah, just vibes.

Haha fair, but some of us are high-anxiety peeps okay

Honestly? Respect. That’s the real Toyota way.

My '88 Camry will outlive most new cars, lol. Newer ones are cool but older Toyotas were just built different.

1988?? Dang! How many miles on that beast?

Totally agree. Less fluff, more durability. Miss those late-90s models too.

Cars these days are rolling computers… I’d rather get the warranty than risk a $2k screen repair or something wild.

Exactly! My biggest worry is all the tech and pano roof stuff, not the engine tbh.

I did the 10-year Toyota platinum warranty with 4 years of free maintenance. Wanted zero hassle. Paid $35k OTD for a loaded LE and it’s been a smooth ride so far.

Wait what? 35k for an LE? I paid less for my XSE. What options did you get?

How much was just the warranty part?

Pro tip: negotiate the warranty before you finalize the sale. Once you’re in the finance room, it’s too late and they jack it up.

Where’d you get 0% financing? That’s kinda rare for Camrys right now.

Ah just to clarify—it was 0% financing on the warranty, not the car. The car itself was 4.99%.

That color is FIRE :fire: What trim is that?
