Next-gen Toyota RAV4 might get a fully electric version, according to a Japanese report

Saw some updates that Toyota’s testing the next-gen RAV4 and there’s a solid chance it’s getting an all-electric version. Apparently Japan’s Best Car mag says it’ll ride on an upgraded TNGA-K platform, so no crazy retooling needed. They’re also keeping the hammerhead shark look from the current models and refreshing the interior with stuff like a floating touchscreen. Anyone else seen this? Thoughts on Toyota doing a full EV RAV4?

wait this would be the 3rd time they’ve done an electric RAV4 right?

yeah first one was back in ‘97, then again in 2012 with a Tesla collab. this would be the third go

so is this gonna replace the gas-only version? or are they keeping all the options?

looks like they might drop the pure gas model in the US like they did with the 2025 Camry. hybrid and plug-in only, plus maybe this full EV

the floating touchscreen and new interior sound nice. hope they bump up the cargo space too

they said it’s slightly longer/wider, so yeah should help with space. same idea as the current plug-in Hybrid housing all the EV components without cramping things

does anyone know if it’s still using the 2.5L engine or going full battery?

hybrid and plug-in should keep the 2.5L four-cylinder, but the full EV version would obviously ditch it for pure electric

heard it’s gonna be like 6 million yen for the electric version… anyone know what that is in usd?

roughly $39,800 give or take. not cheap but kinda expected for a new EV

ouch :grimacing: not budget friendly but could be worth it if range + features are solid
