That’s such a weird spot to put a toilet in the background.

Honestly, looks like it works great though.

There used to be a framed wall over the support beam near the car. The basement is part of the garage now. That wall was full of black mold and flimsy, so I tore it down to have more space to work on my junk cars.
I just replaced mine recently too. Almost all the plastic clips and pins snapped, and I still have a small coolant leak near the filler neck. I’ve replaced everything except the thermostat housing, which still looks good as new. Good luck with yours!
Do you know what caused it to break?

Over time, heat cycling can cause this. There’s a gasket between the metal and plastic parts, and the metal is just crimped over to hold it all together. Thermal expansion gradually loosens those crimped sections.

Looks like some of the areas where the metal was crimped over the plastic were bent back, or maybe not bent properly in the first place. The whole top seam is leaking now.
How many miles do you have on it? If it’s a lot, you might want to replace the small coolant hoses going to the throttle body too.

It’s at 188k miles. I thought about replacing the hoses, but they all look like they’re in great condition. I’m just doing the belt and water pump because they were making a racket during cold starts in the negative temps.
This is a pretty simple fix for these cars.

It looks a little messy since you have to take off so much, but it’s probably easy overall.

Yep, it’s actually super straightforward. Took me about 30 minutes to get it all taken apart.
The tiny hoods on these cars always make me laugh.
