Oil capacity on 2019 5.7?

Some folks say 7.9 quarts, others say 8.5. Trying to get the real number here—anyone know for sure? Thanks!

7.9qt without the filter, 8.5qt with the filter.

That’s straight from the owner’s manual.

So I need to pour in 8.5 quarts if I changed the filter too?

Yup, exactly.

Yeah, that’s right. I’ve always found it weird they list it without the filter. I mean, who’s changing oil and skipping the filter? If that’s your logic, you probably don’t care about the exact numbers anyway.

@Lior
In my case, I don’t drive a ton—maybe 5k miles a year in my 2021 SR5 Tundra. So I do a drain and fill every 6 months, and a full oil + filter change once a year. Probably overkill but gives me peace of mind.

Depends who you ask honestly. Easiest way—just call a Toyota dealer’s service department. Tell them you’re looking to do an oil change and ask how much oil it takes. They’ll probably ask for your VIN and give you the exact factory spec.
