Rodent Issue

That’s the windshield cowl and the cowl seal/water deflector at the ends. You’ll want to fix them since water will leak.

Had a rodent squat in my wife’s Acura, caught that bugger just in time; he was in the middle of building a nest under the engine cover. Luckily, no wire damage.

@eglay
Thank you! Yes, I caught it quickly… happened sometime between Saturday evening and this morning.

Awe man, that sucks!

Absolutely the worst.

Ugh, my worst fear! Do you drive it daily?

Every day. Parked in my garage daily for the last 8 months and this happened in about 48 hours when I didn’t go anywhere for a couple of days. Just my luck, smh…

@Tristan
Jeez. We just moved into a new house and the property has rodent problems, and I’ve been hesitant to park in the garage for this reason. Thanks for sharing.

My advice is to check for all points of entry including small gaps near the garage door and near the foundation. I think I just timed opening my garage door and it came in. Apparently, I have an opening behind the hot water heater where a pipe goes into the house, and it’s just small enough for it to hide. Have to wait for it to be caught before I can plug the space with some steel wool or insulation. Welcome to home ownership :triumph:.

I just cut up a sponge and used double-sided tape to fix mine.
You’re going to want to check out your cabin air filter located behind the glove box because that’s what the cowl is connected to.

I’m going to take it to the dealership, but just for that part I was quoted $1000 based on the photo and the part description someone said.

@Tristan
You could possibly find a used one and a local shop to replace it. It would be much cheaper. It’s easy to take out. I removed mine to wash the rodent pee out when I fixed it.

Did you use a regular kitchen or bathroom sponge?

@Tristan
A new kitchen sponge. Yours is pretty chewed though.

Yeah, I’m going to stuff some towels for now because it’s going to rain, but then hopefully it will be repaired soon.
