I just found out something cool—apparently, if you press the lock button, wait about half a second, press it again, then hold it down for three seconds, your car will remote start right from the key fob! No need to use the app if you’re close by. I heard you might need a subscription for this, though. Anyone tried it?

Not sure, but my RAV4 worked. Might depend on the year and trim level?
I thought this only worked with the remote start app? My dealer said it won’t work after the trial expires.

Yeah, I heard the same. After six months, Toyota locks it unless you subscribe.

Actually, my dealer told me the fob remote start should work for 10 years without a subscription. Seems like mixed info out there.

Nope, unfortunately, it seems like Toyota doesn’t offer this feature in Canada without an expensive upgrade.
I wish I knew this before buying! My dealer made it sound like I’d need an app forever.
