Hello fam, I’ve always wanted an 80 series Land Cruiser since I first saw them back in '91, and now I’m finally in a position to possibly acquire one. Thankfully, this page, along with various forums and YouTube, is full of valuable info. What I’m really looking for, though, are the things that often get overlooked. When I go to inspect a vehicle, aside from checking the mechanical parts and looking for rust, are there any indicators you noticed that later became significant problems? Really appreciate any insights you can share. Oh, and the seller is asking $10k for it.
I paid $8k for a triple locked one with lower miles, and I still drive it daily. Definitely check it out in person first.
Is the short block Toyota or some other brand? That’s super important.
I ran the VIN and found out it has a salvage title due to a mechanical issue from around 2001, which is what the seller said. Does having a salvage title really affect the value of the vehicle?
