Should I buy a used Camry Hybrid with 80k miles?

Pretty much what the title says. I’m hunting for Camry Hybrids under $25k that come fully loaded with leather seats, sunroof, and all that, but they’re tough to find right now.

I came across a fully loaded 2022 SE with 80k miles. The dealer’s lowest offer is $22,000 total. Is 80k too much? The car looks perfect otherwise. I was really hoping for something under 60k miles. It’s still under the battery and rust warranty from Toyota.

What should I be thinking about with that kind of mileage?

I want a Toyota because they’re known to last. I’ll be driving cross-country soon and adding about 5,000 miles. I don’t want to deal with any big repairs right off the bat.

This price is around $4,000 below market right now. I know car prices might shoot up soon with tariffs, so I don’t want to make a dumb choice just because I’m rushing to buy. Any advice would help.

Is the SE version actually a hybrid?

If it is, you’re probably fine. Just change the battery fan filter.

Do a drain and refill of the eCVT fluid, plus regular oil and filter changes.

The only real issue with these is some squeaky interior parts.

If you’re doing long-distance driving, you should be able to get 300k to 400k miles easy.

@Zem
Yeah it’s a hybrid. Thanks a lot!

If you’re taking out a loan and we end up in a recession like they’re saying, you might regret the purchase. Been there myself.

I’m paying in cash.

Well then, go for it!

@Landyn
You don’t think a 3-year-old car with 80k miles is too much?

It’s a Camry, not a Chrysler.

Why would that be a problem? That doesn’t really add up.

You’d be better off spending a bit more on a new Camry LE. Saving a few thousand on something already driven that much doesn’t seem worth it.

The SE, which this one compares to, starts at $36k with all the options this car has. That’s a $14k difference I just can’t cover.

@Valentine
I get it. I just think if you could let go of some features, you’d avoid overpaying for a high-mileage car. I’d personally be hesitant to spend that much on one with nearly 100k miles. But hey, it’s your call.

Don’t buy a Camry.

You say you want it for long-term use and dependability.

Alright.

You say the deal seems good for what you’re getting.

Alright.

But you’re hung up on the 80k miles for a 2022?

I don’t get it. Are you thinking 80k is already too much for a Toyota you’re buying for dependability?

I bought a 2017 Camry SE with nearly double the miles for less than half the price you’re looking at — for the same reasons. I didn’t stress about the mileage. You’ll be fine.

Doesn’t the hybrid system warranty go up to 90k for 2022 models? That’s a lot of miles… I’d look for something closer to 40k–50k if you can.

It’s covered up to 100k.

You’re focusing too much on the price.

If your main concern is the mileage, then look at the condition and how it was maintained. That matters way more at this point.

I just want opinions on the 80k miles, not really debating the price. KBB says private party value is about right, and I’m getting it from a dealer with some warranty perks. I know the price is solid — just trying to see if the mileage should be a red flag.

@Valentine
Didn’t you literally ask if it was a good deal?

Fair point. I should’ve phrased it better — I’m mainly asking if 80k is too many miles.
