Hey everyone, I just got a 2024 Tundra Platinum 4WD. I’m planning to level the truck by lifting the front about 1.7 inches. Right now, it has the stock 20-inch wheels. The shop I’m working with suggests switching to 18-inch rims with 34-inch tires for more tire visibility and less chance of curb damage. What do you all think? I want the truck to look tougher, but I don’t do much off-roading—just some farm pasture driving, and that’s pretty smooth.
18s will probably give you a smoother ride, and yeah, curb damage is a real risk with 20s. My old truck had 18s, and I never had an issue. My current Tundra has 20s, and I’ve had a few close calls with curbs already. I think 18s look better overall, but that’s just me. If money’s not a problem, it could be a cool upgrade.

Wow, that’s gorgeous!
I think 18s look better than 20s, but I can’t bring myself to replace perfectly good wheels just because of an extra couple inches of metal.

I feel the same. I’m considering selling the stock ones to offset the cost if I decide to switch.
@Madden
That’s a solid plan, but I know a few folks who ended up with those wheels just sitting in their garage for over a year.
@Quince
That looks amazing. Beautiful truck!
@Patton
This looks almost exactly like mine. Love it!

Thanks! I just added a cover from Extreme Terrain—it’s the same one the dealership offers, but it was $699 compared to their $1400 price. I also tinted the windows. Plus, the 275 tires are cheaper to replace than the stock 265/60/20s because Ford and other brands use that size. It looks better without needing to replace the wheels, which is great if you’re still making payments on the truck.
Go for the smallest rim and the biggest tire every time. It’s a truck, not a Corvette. Anything over 20 inches just doesn’t look good, in my opinion.
