Should we really style scrollbars or just leave them alone

Just got the car and loving it so far! Looking for recommendations on exterior and interior mods—what would you suggest? Also, what rims do you think would look best? And do you think adding LED strips inside would be tacky or a nice touch?

Looks like they are following their own advice about styling scrollbars and handles.

Exactly. They even mention that if you do decide to style it, it should be high contrast with a large click area. Their own website shows this.

@Arlo
True. But it seems like the person who posted this just wants to find reasons to be upset.

I guess that’s me, lol.

@Arlo
I admit I only read the start when making this post, lol. But isn’t this just something we can agree on?

Black on white gives the best contrast, so the rules make sense.

I still wish people wouldn’t make it thinner.

Really? You enjoy searching for that tiny 1 pixel of the scroll bar to drag it? /s

@Lesley
And it’s usually hidden until you hover over that tiny pixel.

It’s not pure white; it has 25% opacity.

It’s not just about contrast and thickness. The way the scrollbar behaves changes with different devices and user settings. Styling can mess that up.

EDIT: Downvote me if you want, it won’t change the truth. Check my reply below for a clearer explanation.

@Marsden
I have no idea why you’re being downvoted; you’re right!

Any examples?

Sure. On MacOS with WebKit and Chromium from OS X 10.7 onward. Based on what you use (trackpad or mouse) and the settings (like the ‘show scrollbars’ option), the scrollbar looks and behaves differently.

Try it out. You’ll see the differences. Also, scrollbar-gutter doesn’t always work based on settings and devices.

Reading can be tough.

That’s not even the main topic. If you can’t see the scrollbar or spend too long trying to tell if you’re 25%, 50%, or 66% down, it makes you wonder if the site is hiding the scrollbar.

We’re at a point where even after opening an article, we are just reading the title, lol.

Maybe I need to use a chatbot for summaries.
