Lately, I’ve discovered that I can smell antifreeze in the garage when my wife drives there after she gets home. Though it hasn’t always happened, this has happened a few times. We recently went through a drive-through, and I could smell it when I rolled down the window to pay. I checked beneath the hood with a flashlight and saw nothing that would indicate a leak, but there are no leaks that are visible on the garage floor. There is no overheating, and the tank’s level is good. Does anyone know what to do? I hope it’s not too serious.
Nothing, nothing at all, is what I smell!
It’s possible that you have a coolant leak that is seeping, evaporating, or puddling somewhere.
There may be a requirement for a pressure test at the dealer. Removing the belly pan and examining it as well.
It is unusual in any case, and covered by warranty, but it needs to be investigated.
Don’t wait; you don’t want a minor issue to worsen and cause you significant inconvenience when it’s most likely to happen.
@Ann Naturally, of course! That’s precisely what they stated, though. No leaks were visible, and there was no stench. advised me to monitor the tank. I promised them that the next time I smell it, I will bring it back. Though to be fair, I couldn’t smell it when I arrived home, so I was a little miffed that they couldn’t.
