You’re talking about the US market, right? Any differences with European Lexus models?
Generally, the Toyotas made in Japan are the best ones. Many Toyotas in Europe aren’t made in Japan. But Lexus models for Europe are all made in Japan.
If you’re in Europe, go for a Lexus if you want the best chance at reliability.

Honestly, it depends. The newer ones are really solid, but dealers and part prices can be a pain, especially in places dominated by German brands. I’d personally go for a BMW 320D if I was in Europe. You don’t give up much on reliability, but you gain in performance and dealer network.
It’s often said that the Japan factory assembling Lexus is the best one Toyota has. Top workers from other Toyota plants can get promoted there. They start with 4Runners, then move up to Lexus and Land Cruisers. It’s a big deal within Toyota, and it helps keep their quality high.

Check out ‘The Car Care Nut’ on YouTube. He knows a lot about Toyota and Lexus. I’ve learned tons from his videos.
And he’s not afraid to point out their problems either.
Like the UR V8, which is known for head gasket issues and warped blocks around 200k miles. He mentioned in a video that he had 8 Land Cruisers and GXs with the same issue. One customer got quoted $20k for a repair because the block was warped.
@Bradley
I should watch that. I mostly watch his videos about the 2nd-gen Highlander since I have one, but I’m always interested in Land Cruiser content too.

That’s like using Wikipedia as a source. Not super reliable.
I’ve had both over the past 20 years. Lexus always got the cool tech before Toyota. Can you imagine if a Toyota had more features than a Lexus? It wouldn’t make sense.
