One thing that really bothers me is the driver and safety assist settings. There is plenty of space to write out the full names, yet they use tons of acronyms in the menu.
Here’s a list of them. If anyone else agrees, maybe we can all send feedback to Toyota and ask for a software update to spell them out instead of using just acronyms.
If you turn them off in the EU, they come back on every time you start the car because of regulations. I’m picking up my Corolla Tourer today, and I’m not looking forward to adjusting to all these settings. It’s not just Toyota, it’s all new cars now. I’ll miss my simple old Opel Astra.
I just ordered a car that has PCS, LTA, LCA, LDA, PDA, SA, DA, OAA, FCTA, RSA, BSM, RCTA, RCD, PKSB, VSC, AHB, TPMS, DAC, SDM, EPS, ABS, HD Radio, JBL sound system, and six USB-C ports.
VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)
AHB (Automatic High Beam)
TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
DAC (Downhill Assist Control)
SDM (Front Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism)
EPS (Electric Power Steering)
ABS (Antilock Braking System)
JBL (Audio System)
Some of these names are just too much, but it’s not really a big issue for me.
Can Toyota add a car wash mode? Every time I go through a machine wash, I have to turn off brake hold, auto wipers, front and rear sensors, and the forward collision warning just to be safe.

I have a 2024 Corolla Cross, and I take it through the car wash twice a month. I just put it in neutral or park, depending on the wash type, and haven’t had any issues with the safety features. I haven’t seen Toyota officially recommend turning anything off either.
@Cairo
I’ve never had to turn anything off, and I use brake hold all the time, especially in the hills where I live. I just put the car in neutral, and it works fine.

I was just thinking about this the other day when I tried reversing with a bike rack on. I totally agree, they need to make these menus more user-friendly. I don’t want to feel like I need a Toyota degree just to use my car.

Honestly, you only check this menu once or twice, maybe a few times when you first get the car. After that, it’s not really an issue.
What if it’s a rental or a friend borrows your car? Should they have to read the manual just to adjust a setting? I’ve had to change settings multiple times just in my first week of ownership. Would it really be a problem to have the names spelled out?
@Barbara
Why would they be changing your settings? It’s not their car. I’d be annoyed if someone borrowed my car and messed with my setup.
In a rental, I get it, but that’s a temporary issue.
And no, I wouldn’t mind if the names were spelled out, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. I just set my car up the way I like and move on. I’ve had multiple Corollas and learned a lot just by reading the manual.
There’s nothing wrong with adjusting settings to make sure the driver is comfortable. A lot of families share cars, so it makes sense that people would change them.
@Cortland
I’m not mad, but yeah, this topic hit a nerve for me. Probably because so many posts in this forum are just people asking for help instead of reading their manuals.
That said, OP does have a point. The acronyms could definitely be clearer, and I see where they’re coming from.
