A guy backed straight into the side of my car while I was reversing out of a parking spot. He claimed he couldn’t see me because of his bad eyesight—seriously? Meanwhile, he’s walking away without a scratch, and my car looks like this. I know this might sound like a silly question, but with the back frame bent like that, it’s not a total loss… right?
Would be nice if people posted updates on these. Like ‘Got hit, here’s the damage, insurance quoted me XYZ’ so others get an idea of what to expect. Instead of asking random people online who have no clue what your adjuster is gonna say.
Definitely fixable, but you know how insurance companies are… they’ll always try to pay as little as possible.

Yeah, and honestly, my buddy’s insurance isn’t the most well-known company. Never even heard of them before today.
@Zev
That’s usually a red flag. Some of those companies will do anything to avoid paying out.

Not always. A lot of the smaller regional insurance companies actually have better customer service than the big-name ones you see on TV. I work in the industry, and some of the best claim service comes from companies most people have never heard of.

Yeah, we’ll see how this plays out. Gotta wait until tomorrow to talk to his adjuster.

Should just be a body repair unless there’s hidden damage. I had to fix my car after I bought it, then a deer decided to introduce itself to my front bumper.
@Zev
Doesn’t look totaled unless there’s frame damage. Just because you haven’t heard of the company doesn’t mean they’re bad. Like I said, a lot of the small regional carriers are actually better than the big-name ones.
