Subaru dealer already running a pre-tariff sale… prices going up soon?

Saw a dealer already doing a ‘pre-tariff’ sale. Looks like they’re expecting prices to go up soon. Anyone know if these tariffs are really going to hit all Subarus or just certain ones? Trying to figure out if it’s just dealer scare tactics or something real.

You just know dealers are gonna use the tariff talk as an excuse to raise prices way more than needed.

And once they go up, they’re not coming back down… but yeah, is the 25% on the whole car or just parts? Like if the Outback is built in Indiana, is it just the imported bits that get hit? And this only affects stuff arriving after April 2, right? Not what’s already here? Anyway, glad we bought last fall.

@Axel
Trump might pull back again last minute, but the dealers will keep prices high regardless. At this point, who even knows what tariffs are actually happening and what’s just political noise.

You think people will still rush in to buy with these new prices?

@Levi
Probably not, but if you need a car in the next year, it’s either new or used at already inflated prices. Just depends how long people keep paying.

They’ll keep buying if banks keep handing out loans. 96 months at 15%, but hey, the monthly looks affordable :sweat_smile:

oh no… they’re actually winning

welcome to late stage capitalism :clown_face:

@CarEnthusiast
Recession will drop rates eventually. Folks with no savings and all debt are oddly gonna win here lol

@CarEnthusiast
My ‘09 Corolla still doing just fine. I’m riding this out for years.

@Levi
Think brands that aren’t hit as hard by tariffs will keep prices low?

If they wanna sell cars, yeah. No one’s paying those Covid markup prices anymore.

@Levi
lol true. these cars are just gonna sit there collecting dust.

Honestly, I think it’s all bluff. Tariffs might not even happen. Dealer lobby is strong in the US.

@Bela
This all feels like they’re just shaking the market to scoop up stocks when they dip.

@Axel
Yeah, it’s about imports. Cars and parts coming in after April 2. So the stuff already here shouldn’t be affected… but who knows what dealers will do.

lol yeah, but they’ll probably hike all prices anyway and hope people don’t notice.

@Axel
Pretty sure it’s the parts that are hit, not full cars. Unless there’s some loophole they try to use.

@Axel
Even Indiana-made cars aren’t safe. If they import steel or engines or whatever, they get hit too.
