Subaru escapes a wildfire in chile… this video is wild

Saw this clip from southern Chile where a family made it out of a wildfire in their older Subaru. The video shows how the driver stayed calm and got them out safely. Really amazing to watch.

If this ever happens, don’t forget to turn on the cabin air recirculation and close the windows. Helps a lot with smoke. Glad everyone made it out.

Yeah and you could hear someone yelling about the windows being open lol

@LandCruiserLover
Haha right? And once they were safe, they still had the windows up and were just sitting in smoke. Classic.

I hit that button all the time. Bad smells, traffic, smoke… it’s like my ‘no thanks’ switch :joy:

@Lex
Same here. My city smells awful so I never let outside air in.

First thing I thought too. They didn’t hit recirculate judging by all the coughing.

Just a heads-up, even with recirculate on, outside air can still sneak in. So keep an eye on how you’re feeling and crack a window if needed.

@Blakely
Was wondering about that. Like, does it really seal everything off or nah?

Not really. On my outback the system still lets in some outside air even in recirc. Wish we could fully shut it out during stuff like this.

Literally my first thought too. Should’ve hit that button asap.

I just leave mine on recirc 24/7 tbh

How do you even turn that on?

@Audrey

Don’t leave it on forever in rainy weather or your car will fog up like crazy

That explains so much about my other car lol. Thanks for the tip

@Audrey
AC helps clear up the fog fast too, even when it’s cold. Most people forget that.
