The big upgrade

I originally planned to trade in my 2014 GX460 for a low-mileage 2023 GX460—until I spotted this beauty. YOLO. I never claimed to make the smartest financial decisions, but I sure make fun ones!

2025 LX 600 F Sport

  • Caviar exterior with black interior
  • Chrome delete
  • Ceramic Xpel tint (5% all around, 55% on the windshield)
  • Xpel PPF on all painted surfaces

I’m beyond excited—absolutely love this ride

Wow, looks amazing! Congrats!

That’s quite the accidental YOLO. Alas, that’s one of my dream cars. Congrats!

Was something wrong with the 14 GX460?

Yes, it actually had a few problems. One of which I couldn’t get past or I would have just kept it forever. In hard rain or car washes, it gets water where it shouldn’t and shuts off for like an entire week until the car dries out. No one can figure out how to stop it. There’s quite a few others. I wanted to get back under a warranty. Seems like 99% of GXs are perfect, but I had the 1%. Still a Lexus fan though.

Nice! Looks a beaut! Initial impressions?

Looks sick!

Did you notice any increased road noise after the tint? Just got our LX600 tinted, and there’s slightly higher road noise now.

Oh, and mind sharing how much you paid for the tint and PPF? I was quoted $3.5k-5k (Bay Area).

@Raleigh
Thank you. I drove it straight from the dealer, about 5 miles to the tint shop. I’m not sure how tint would make road noise, but even if it did, I didn’t drive it long enough until then to notice. I was right around 6k, but that was also with chrome delete, full ceramic coat over the PPF, and various interior pieces covered as well as the 2 touch screens covered in a clear matte PPF that reduces glare and fingerprints.

@Jaime
Ah okay. My quotes were for full front PPF, ceramic coating, and tint.

It’s my first Lexus, coming from a Honda Accord, so the incredibly quiet cabin was noticeable right away. I’ve been driving it for a few weeks before getting tints done. Sometimes they remove door panels for Lexus vehicles or mess with seals, and I noticed it’s not as quiet as before. I hope I’m just imagining it, haha.

Congrats again! You’re really making me wish I’d gotten the F Sport, haha. Any other plans for it yet?

@Raleigh
Hopefully, they didn’t cause any extra noise. It is super quiet inside! I had a choice between this and the base LX700h, but I needed the room in the hatch that the batteries on the 700 use up. Plus, I couldn’t pass up that F Sport grille. A lot of people hate it, but I love it.

I do have plans for aftermarket wheels and tires and leveling it. Not sure if I want to go with 20’s on mud terrain 33’s or 24’s on street tires with big brakes. For now, I’m pretty happy with the stock wheels, but I would like to level it out at least.

I’m not the type that can just leave things stock, but it’s damn near perfect right out of the box, and the 8” of push button suspension ride height adjustability is a trip to say the least (AHC).
