These are the Toyota Land Cruiser years to avoid... any thoughts?

Hey guys, I’m considering a Toyota Land Cruiser, but I came across an article that mentions certain years to avoid due to issues. I’d love to hear from current or past owners about their experiences. Are there specific years that have given you trouble? What should I be on the lookout for? Any advice would be super helpful as I want to make a good decision before diving in.

Definitely avoid the 2003 and 2004 models. They had a lot of transmission issues. I learned that the hard way with mine.

Oh wow, that’s good to know. Did you have any other major problems with yours?

I had a 2008 model and it was fantastic. No issues at all. Just regular maintenance. Maybe stick to models after 2007?

That’s true, those models were generally reliable. But still, check the service history.

The 2010-2015 models had some electrical issues, but they were usually minor. I still say go for it if you find a well-maintained one.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll be sure to check the electrical systems.

I’ve always heard that the 100 series is solid if you find one without rust. Just avoid any that have been heavily modified.

Agreed. Stock is usually better for reliability.

All these years have some quirks, but with good maintenance, they can last a long time. Just be prepared for some issues with older models.

Exactly! Regular checks can save you a lot of headaches.
