Planning to buy my first Tundra soon. I originally wanted the TRD Off-Road, power package, premium package, JBL sound, and pano roof—but I’m starting to rethink things. TRD is still a must, but the others are more ‘nice to have’ now. What do y’all think?
Also—anyone have issues with the panoramic roof? Heard someone say theirs leaked already and now I’m a little iffy on it.
And last thing—any tips on how to get the price down? I’ve never been great at negotiating.
JBL, power package for the outlet, premium package for the better headlights, TRD Off-Road, heated steering wheel, and a spray-in bed liner. My wife likes the pano roof but I never use it.

I’d probably enjoy the pano roof until it starts leaking or causing problems. My kids love it though.

I felt the same but now that it’s sunny more often I’ve actually grown to like it. The rattle only happens when the shade’s open, and it’s right over my head on the driver’s side.
For me the JBL sound and heated steering wheel were musts. Oh and if you’re thinking about tow mirrors, test them first—they make a big blind spot. I wish they folded in tighter when not being used.
Don’t skip the JBL. I bought a 2024 Limited Max TRD with the roof and didn’t think much about the sound system. Regret that now—everything else is great but the stock audio is weak.
I actually like the pano roof. I didn’t get the JBL and folks told me it’s not that amazing anyway. You can always upgrade later. I might install a roof rack for camping down the line, not sure how that’ll work with the pano though, so something to think about.

I’d like the JBL too, but it’s not a dealbreaker. I’m coming from an ‘08 Scion xD with busted speakers, so anything will feel like an upgrade.
Yeah, the stock setup is decent. Not sure the JBL is worth the hype honestly.
I didn’t get the JBL either—stock sound’s alright, does the job. Pano roof isn’t my thing but my daughter loves it on road trips. I got a 3-inch lift just for better visibility, not for off-roading. Spray-in bed liner and bed step are both a must.
Didn’t go for TRD since I didn’t need the full package. Also, I took the Limited that had chrome since it was cheaper than the blackout version. Didn’t love it at first but now I think it looks great.
I was stuck between Limited and Platinum—glad I went Limited. I had a 2nd gen Tacoma before and just wanted something with nicer finishes.
SofTex is a solid middle ground between cloth and 1794 leather—easy to keep clean and no need for conditioning. Got the Premium and Power packages. Love the heated steering wheel, especially since my truck doesn’t fit in the garage.
The 8-way power seats with lumbar support were a big upgrade for me. Platinum had more stuff like rear seat climate control and ambient lights but was about $7k more.
Also really like the digital rearview mirror—it’s great if you plan to use a folding tonneau.

I’m in Kentucky. Luckily I work for an airline so I can fly pretty much anywhere in the U.S. Just gotta figure out how to negotiate better first!
I’ve got a loaded 2025 Platinum Capstone Max with TRD Off-Road.
I barely used the sunroof in my last car and same with this one, but no issues so far. I got TRD OR for beach trips and hitting the Rockies.
Didn’t like the base audio—JBL is better but still not amazing. Digital rearview mirror is awesome, especially during the day—you can see several lanes behind. After using the 360 camera setup, I wouldn’t buy another full-size truck without it.
Just a heads up though, the power outlets are only 400W. Don’t expect to run a bunch of stuff for tailgating or job sites.
