Thinking about getting a Supra 2.0… what do y’all think?

Been seriously considering picking up a 2021 Supra 2.0 for $37,500 with 9k miles. It’s in my favorite color, tungsten grey, and has a clean history. Since they aren’t making these anymore, I feel like now might be the time to buy. I first fell in love with the Supra when I rented a 3.0 premium back in 2020… people were stopping and asking ‘what is that?’ Just looking for some thoughts. Thanks!

The 2.0 and 3.0 feel like totally different cars. If you loved the 3.0, don’t assume the 2.0 will feel the same.

If you’re into the Supra for its looks, the 2.0 will still turn heads. A lot of folks here will tell you it’s not worth it, but not everyone cares about top speed or power. The B48 engine is good enough for regular driving. Just don’t get a 4-cylinder and then ask how to make it as fast as the 3.0—if you want power, just buy the 3.0. If you just want the Supra look, the 2.0 is fine.

@Ronald
Yeah, I’m really in it for the looks. I think the 2.0 will still be fun to drive.

Don’t do it, bro. You’ll regret it. Save another $10k and get the 3.0. Don’t rush it.

@Teal
If I save another $10k, I might as well keep saving for a C8 Corvette… I get that the 3.0 is faster, but I’ve seen reviews where even pros say the 2.0 is plenty quick for the street.

260hp is slow, bro. You just want the Supra name, so get whatever. Might as well wrap it in chrome while you’re at it. But don’t come back later wishing you got the 3.0 instead.

Nah, wouldn’t do it.

For that price? No way. I got a 2021 3.0 for under MSRP at $50k. My brother-in-law paid $45k for his 2022 2.0. Keep looking, don’t rush. Also, some newer ones don’t come with Apple CarPlay unless you pay extra, so double-check that.End of the day, it’s your money. The 2.0 is harder to mod, but not impossible. Some folks track a 2.0 because it’s lighter. In Japan, they even sell a stripped-down version just for the track. The real car community won’t judge you for what you drive—ignore the toxic ones.Good luck, man. But for a used 2.0 with 9k miles, $37.5k is too much.

@SophyGenesis
Thanks, man! Yeah, I know the 2.0 won’t have the same punch as the 3.0, but I still think it’ll be fun. There aren’t many 2.0s for sale near me, so I’m looking all over the country. Not sure if the price is high because they aren’t making the 2.0 anymore?

That’s a little high for a 2.0. I’ve seen them closer to $35k. But if it’s what you want and it fits your budget, go for it. Don’t let the 3.0 folks get in your head.

Yeah, the 3.0 guys are all over me lol, but I really just love the way it looks.

@Eliot
Do what makes you happy, bro. It’s your money, whether it’s a 2.0 or 3.0.

Appreciate it, man!

They stopped making the 2.0 for a reason. That should tell you something.

Had a 2.0 for a year… kept trying to make it faster. Did an intake, JB4, thought about a downpipe. Ended up trading it for a 3.0. 2.0 was fun, but I spent extra money in the long run. If you like it, go for it, just don’t make the same mistake I did.

3.0 guys are giving you a hard time because they know what they’re talking about. The 2.0 won’t be nearly as fun, and for a little more money, you could get the 3.0.I’ve had both the auto and manual 3.0. It’s one of those cars that makes you smile every time you drive it—even years later.

@Harlan
A 3.0 premium is mid-40s, plus tax, so I’m looking at nearly $50k. At that point, I might as well go all out and get a 2020 C8 for $54k.

If you think $37.5k for a 2.0 won’t end up being $40k after taxes, you’re fooling yourself.Seriously, test-drive a 2.0. Then see if you’d rather spend $40k on that or $46-48k on a 3.0. You came here asking for opinions, but you don’t like the answers because they don’t fit what you wanted to hear.The 2.0 is missing everything that makes the Supra special—the sound, the power, the whole experience. You’re only considering it because of the name. Just be honest with yourself before you spend that much money.
