Thinking of buying my first Supra… is this a bad idea?

I’m looking at a 2020 A90 premium with around 50k miles, priced just under 40k. Clean title, no accidents, one owner, completely stock with factory phantom paint. I’ve been into these cars for a while and have done plenty of research. I know about the difference between the 2-port and 6-port B58 engines in the 2020 vs. 2021+ models, but I like the unlocked ECU in the 2020 since I plan to tune it.Anything specific I should check before buying? Any advice on making the process smoother? For context, I’m 19. This isn’t my first car or first time financing, but it’ll be my first personal auto loan. I get how big of a step this is and I’m ready for the commitment. I’d like to put down more, but I’m aiming for 10k-13k down with a 6-year term (I know, I know). I plan to refinance later to a 3-year loan at a better rate. This will be my long-term daily driver, and I want to make it my own.Any advice on long-term ownership or things to consider before pulling the trigger?

$30-35k in debt at 19 is a huge commitment. What’s your monthly income? Can you comfortably afford it?

I get that you want the car, but this is a big financial hit at your age. A Supra is fun, but it’s not a practical choice. Have you thought about saving and investing instead?

There’s a pinned thread for these kinds of posts, but no one enforces it. That’s why we keep seeing this stuff clog up the forum along with all the unrelated spam.

Is this serious? I wouldn’t do it. There are a ton of reasons why this isn’t the best move.

It’s always better to make sure you’re financially stable before buying a car like this. But hey, it’s your decision.

You’re 19… get a Honda Civic or a Camry, invest the rest, and you’ll be able to buy ten Supras in a few years. Or better yet, get a house before a sports car.
