Thinking of getting a 2020+ Supra… any advice?

Might sell my Challenger and try out a Supra. Anything I should be aware of? Any common issues or things to look out for? What’s the difference between the trims? Is the auto or manual better? Thinking of picking one up from marketplace that’s already got some mods or at least some performance parts. Any signs that the engine might not be in the best shape? Any info would help! Oh, and post some pics of your Supras!

Got my 2020 a few months ago with 55k km on it. Came with an aftermarket intake and was lowered by the previous owner. Bought it from a dealership, so I felt pretty confident it was in good shape. And honestly, these cars are hard to mess up even if someone tries.

The B58 and ZF8 auto are rock solid. Toyota worked with BMW to improve the engine, and they really made it a beast. If you’re buying from a private seller, get it inspected. If it’s from a dealership, check if they offer a warranty or inspection reports.

I went for the highest trim because this is the most expensive car I’ve ever bought, and I wanted the full experience. The tech package is awesome—heads-up display, safety features, adaptive cruise, auto high beams, and more. Worth it.

Appreciate the info! How’s the space for taller people? I’m 6’2 but fit fine in my C7. Hoping it’s similar.

I’m about 6’0 and fit great. At 6’2, you might be a little more snug, but I’ve seen plenty of people your height say they don’t have issues.

Best way to know is to test one out. Go to a dealership and sit in one—it hasn’t changed much across the years.

Getting in and out is different from other cars. I sit backwards into the seat first, then swing my head and legs in. It’s a small sports car, so it comes with the territory.

Got a test drive scheduled for Friday. Just wanted to know what to expect. Had to get into my C7 the same way. My cousin had a C3 for a while—my knees were almost above the wheel, but I made it work :joy:

This is my moment to shine.

Just traded my Challenger for a Supra and I’m 6’7. Here’s my take on comfort:

  1. You’ll fit.
  2. Legroom is tighter than the Challenger, but still decent.
  3. Headroom is actually solid, thanks to the bubble roof.
  4. Shoulder room is where you’ll feel the biggest difference. It’s snug compared to a Challenger or Corvette.
  5. Seating position is LOW. Watch your head getting in.
  6. Feels more premium than the Challenger but not as cushy. More road noise, firmer seats, but better quality.

Oh man, totally different experience.

The Challenger can turn, but the Supra actually rotates. The handling is insane. Super responsive, corners like a dream, but still has enough weight to feel planted. It can get a little loose in tight corners, but it’s manageable and fun. It’s smaller, more nimble, and you feel everything.

Power-wise? Supra is way quicker. If you’re used to a Hellcat, the difference won’t be huge, but if you’re coming from anything less, the Supra will feel like a rocket. Feels way faster than my old Challenger, no question.

The Challenger is fun, but the Supra is just another level.

Appreciate the details! I like my Scat Pack—loud and fun, but something’s missing. Got a test drive lined up, but I’ve been eyeing some modded ones on marketplace.

No problem, happy to help.

The Supra will be quicker than the Scat Pack and definitely feel faster because of how low it sits and how much better the handling is. It won’t be as loud as the Challenger, but it’s got a great sound. The turbo six has a different kind of growl, and the turbo noises are addictive.

I test drove a modded one with a tune and downpipe, and it was crazy fast—almost too fast for normal roads. I ended up going stock just to be safe. But if you’re comfortable with it, a modded one can be a monster.

If you’re thinking about getting one, act fast. Prices might go up with the new tariffs.

Not too worried. There are tons of used ones for sale around here, so the market is pretty full.
