The code is P268115 and it’s the coolant bypass valve. Toyota part 16260-F0010. Dealer quoted me $1000 but my local shop did it for $350. It’s not covered under warranty which sucks. Avoid using the heat or AC until it’s fixed.

I bought a 2020 from a Hyundai dealer and it was covered under my warranty. So some folks might be lucky if they’re still under mileage.

Same thing just happened to me. My mechanic friend said using the AC or heater wouldn’t really cause problems even if the valve’s bad. Curious what makes it risky?
Coolant bypass valve again. It’s a common issue and a pain to replace. The hoses are behind the engine. Dealers charge $700+. I got the part for about $100 and did it myself in 2-3 hours. Good luck. https://youtu.be/8-hGDPZ-B8E?si=XZ1vgrFwFRMUxnp2

In almost every case I’ve seen with this message, it’s the coolant bypass valve. I work at Toyota.
Could be the valve, a service reminder not cleared, or something else. You’ll need to read the code to know for sure.

Auto parts stores usually check codes for free. You can also buy a Bluetooth OBD2 reader online.

This one’s tricky though. It’s a Toyota-only code. I had the same problem and a regular scanner didn’t show anything.

You’ll need Techstream software to get it. That’s Toyota’s own system.

Funny how they make that code private but didn’t secure their car network so it’s easy to steal.
