Thoughts on Oil Change at Toyota vs Lexus

It’s the same just compare the prices

Keep in mind that even though the brands are similar there are parts that a Toyota dealer can’t check and vice versa Just a heads up The part numbers don’t always match

Toyota shop prices are about 20% lower than Lexus Same parts

I own an LX570 Sort of rare For every Land Cruiser Toyota made seven or eight LX570s

Some services the Toyota dealer will do and some they won’t

But Lexus has better service so even if it costs more they communicate well and I get a loaner while Toyota doesn’t offer that

Recently Lexus stopped giving loaners which makes me think about going to Toyota It’s insane since oil changes and inspections for the LX cost about $280 and don’t even include the cabin filter I did my last oil change myself with Toyota parts that cost $12 for the filter and $5 for the crush washer The prices are crazy

They know how to get the work done but be ready for a flood of calls like Hey your RX is due for service Can you make it Wednesday at 4

What’s the exact price difference

The difference between my local Toyota dealership and my favorite Lexus dealership is like night and day I usually do everything myself but when I do take my cars to Lexus I meet with the same service manager I had back in 2008 when I bought my first Lexus He remembers my name seriously I’ve only been there like six times in almost 20 years Their waiting area is clean and doesn’t play The View 24/7 There is also free soda and snacks in the vending machine Nobody is usually there because they offer free rental cars

My local Toyota dealer is nice too They have a great play area for kids but the lobby is always packed It takes forever for them to finish your car and they only offer free water and coffee It’s like waiting for a bus versus waiting in a first class lounge at Lexus
