Toyota Hilux Surf 3.0td 96 Auto

I drove my surf in 4HL mode for about 5 miles on a mix of tarmac, ice, and snow, traveling at around 20mph and making various left and right turns. I’m concerned that this might have damaged the gearbox, although I have since driven about 200 miles in normal 2WD mode without any issues. Is there a way to check for damage, or should I have it inspected?

hi madam yes, your vechile needs to undergo check up and also u could use tips i will share with u Maintenance History:Regular maintenance is crucial for any car, but especially important for a vehicle with a potentially troublesome engine like the 3.0TD. Look for a Surf with a documented service history that addresses common trouble spots.
Alternatives: Consider other reliable SUVs , such as the Nissan Pathfinder or the Land Rover Discovery, which may offer different features or engine options.

Overall, the Toyota Hilux Surf 3.0TD 1996 Auto can be a great choice for someone looking for a tough and affordable off-road SUV. However, be aware of the potential engine issues and prioritize finding a well-maintained example, especially if considering a pre-1998 model.

Usually, if you drive your Surf in 4HL mode for about 5 miles in the conditions you mentioned (ice, snow, mixed with tarmac, at low speeds and turning), it shouldn’t harm the gearbox. 4HL is made for situations with low traction like these.
