The Chicago Auto Show has a 4Runner TRD Surf concept, and honestly, this needs to go into production.
There’s also a teal/aquamarine Land Cruiser with a wide-body kit and an open back. If Toyota actually sells this, I’d buy one immediately.

Looks great, but one bump and those surfboards are gone. They need a roof rack or some tie-downs.

This is more for beach driving, not rock climbing. The boards are fine in the sand, but yeah, they wouldn’t last on a bumpy mountain trail.
I’ll wait 30 years and pick one up for $40k when it becomes a collectible.

This needs to happen. It’s exactly what people in the US market have been asking for.
If they actually build this, I might sell my 5th-gen 4Runner for it.
Looks like they might actually produce it, but if they do, it’s probably going to be expensive.
