Tundra engine replacement… anyone else dealing with this?

I’d lose my mind if I had to deal with this. The truck will never be the same after it’s torn apart like that. You just know there are going to be leftover bolts and screws rattling around.

As long as they give you a bag labeled ‘extra parts,’ you’re good to go!

@Zachary
“It’s just the collision mitigation sensors and other safety stuff. Don’t really need those anyway.”

I had a similar experience with my Camry. They tore it apart to fix a leak, and it was never the same. Rattles everywhere. Eventually, the dealer just bought it back.

Are they giving you a whole new crate engine or just a short block?

Toyota is sending out almost complete engine assemblies—turbos, pulleys, the works—to save technicians time.

They told me it’s a long block.

Sounds like a crate engine to me. Nice.

Do these new engines come with any additional warranty?

Nope, just the standard vehicle warranty. I’m going to push for some kind of extended coverage because of all the stress this has caused.

I just had mine done in October. My dealership decided to pull the cab off.

I’m hoping my dealership has done a bunch of these before I need mine replaced. For now, I’ll just ride it out. I do really like my 2023 though.

So is every 2022 Tundra going to blow up eventually? I’ve got a ‘22 Limited with 43,000 miles and no issues so far.

They have had my truck since september. I was told the engine would come in November. Still dont know when its coming in. I have been in rental since then i like the outdoors. But there is not much you can do in an suv. Hunting season is upon us and yet i am using an Suv. Sucks I am already starting convoy about lemon law. Because of the loss of value. Lets see how that goes.

I traded in my 2010 5.7 w/ 307k, was still a great truck but I was ready for a 3rd gen, that being said, my '23 w/ 75k with no problems yet is slated for the swap, I’ll gladly take a new long block, turbos and all, I have faith that Toyota will make it right. I’ll bet if any of the big 3 had the same problem the owners would be SOL. Love my Toyotas!
