Used Tundra Warranty… worth paying for?

Thinking about buying a 2023 Tundra with 65k miles. It’s getting a new engine through the recall, has a clean carfax, and was serviced regularly every 5k miles. It’s one of the high-end trims with AVS suspension.

I’ve been offered a 60-month/60,000-mile platinum warranty for $4,300. Do you think it’s worth it? Repairs can be pricey, but I wonder if there’s a way to find a better deal since it’s already out of the factory warranty.

That price seems way too high. I’ve seen similar coverage for around $1,500.

This is for a post-factory warranty, so the original poster can’t buy the Toyota-backed one. Usually, these warranties start from the purchase date and add mileage from there, so it’s 5 years and up to 125,000 miles total.

I personally wouldn’t go for it, but just wanted to clear up how it works.

Got it! Thanks for explaining.

Yeah, it would start now and run to 125k on the odometer. It doesn’t cover regular wear and tear like brakes or tires, but it does include expensive components like the electronics and suspension.

I was quoted $3,200 for 7 years/125,000 miles on a 2022 loaded Platinum with 23,000 miles. That was directly through a Toyota dealer.

That’s a lot of miles in just two years. Maybe the warranty is a good idea in this case.
