Well… this happened

Had a little accident today… not the best way to start the day. Hoping it’s not as bad as it looks. Any advice on what to do next?

Just file the claim, get the repairs done, and make sure the sensors are working properly. Should be good to go after that.

Got rear-ended earlier this month… barely a scratch, but still needed a new bumper, some brackets, and a rear sensor. Ended up costing over $2k. Yours looks worse, so definitely file a claim.

Same here, just a little scrape on my bumper and the estimate was still $2k. Crazy how expensive repairs are.

Did they have to replace any parking sensors or the blind spot radar?

@FaithJones
Not sure, I’d have to check the paperwork.

File a claim with your insurance and let them deal with the other party’s company. It’s usually faster that way. You never know what’s damaged underneath.

Depends on the deductible and whether they have collision coverage.

@Merrill
Even if you pay a deductible, your insurance should get it reimbursed by the other company.

@Merrill
My insurance waived my deductible when I got hit by an uninsured driver because it wasn’t my fault. I guess it depends on the state.

Yeah, some states handle it differently. Over in the insurance forum, we always ask…

(っ◔◡◔)っ :heart: What State? :heart:

@Merrill
Haha, I knew that was coming.

Gotta stay on brand!

I got hit by a drunk driver once… barely any visible damage, but the repair bill was still over $2k. The guy took off, but I got his plate and tracked down his insurance.

File the claim and take the payout. That’s why we have insurance in the first place.

Just be careful… in some states, even a not-at-fault claim can raise your rates.

Yeah, which is why I always try to go through the other driver’s insurance first. If they won’t play ball, then I involve mine.

That’s interesting… my daughter got hit a few months ago, and we just went straight through their insurance. No issues with my rates going up.

Got rear-ended once, no visible damage, so I let it go. Turns out the impact messed up my backup sensor, and now I have to turn it off every time I reverse. Super annoying.

Ugh, that would drive me nuts. Glad I posted here because I probably would’ve ignored it too.
