What are the RAV4 years to stay away from?

I’m looking at Toyotas from around 2010-2016 and I found a couple of great deals for 2011s and 2013s near me. I know 2013 is a great year for them but I’m not sure about 2011s.

Also, what’s the upper limit of mileage that you’d go for on Gen 3 and 4 RAV4s?

General practice for all vehicle models is to stay away from the first year or 2 of a new generation. Those are the years that they have to iron out a majority of the issues. That also means that the last years of a generation are likely to be more reliable.

My 2010 was a v6. She was a beast. I used to get calls from dealerships all the time offering top dollar. I got 2 speeding tickets in the first month of ownership, I just never realized how fast I was going.

I just got a 2010! She’s in good shape. You’re right, an absolute beast. It definitely took a couple weeks for me to get used to how fast it goes.

My daughters 2010 has 250,000+ miles on it. The only thing we’ve ever done is brakes and shocks. What a good car!

It started burning oil around 200k miles but still goes strong if we keep oil in it. Glad to give you hope. Just keep up on oil changes and you will be good. Congrats!!
