What does this warning light mean on my 2021 RAV4?

This warning light just showed up. I checked the tires and they seem fine. I have a 2021 RAV4, and I’m in the UK.

Did you have any work done on your tires recently? If you checked the tire pressure and it’s all good, it could be a bad TPMS sensor.

Thanks for replying. No work done on the tires. I checked the pressure, and everything looks fine. I think it might be the TPMS sensor. Looks like I’ll need to see a mechanic :frowning:

What pressure did you set them to?

Could be one of the TPMS sensor batteries running low or dead.

What’s the recommended pressure on the B pillar, and what are your tires reading?

Usually, if a sensor is bad, the light will flash for about 10 seconds when you start the car.

Scroll through the display, there’s a screen that shows the tire pressure for each tire. Even if one is just a couple PSI low, it can trigger the warning.

Here’s a simple check: turn the car off, then restart it. If the TPMS light blinks, it’s a sensor issue. If it stays on, you’ve got low tire pressure. The RAV4 needs 35 PSI in the front and rear. Set it to 36-37 PSI to be safe.

It’s either a problem with the TPMS, or one of your tires (including the spare) has low pressure.

Check your manual to reset the TPMS, then drive around to let it recalibrate. Sometimes, the dealer sets the pressure high, and when it drops (like on a cold day), the light comes on. If that doesn’t work, take it to the dealer.

You could get the code read and cleared. If it’s not an actual issue, I wouldn’t worry too much unless it’s covered by warranty.

What’s the current tire pressure, and what does the sticker on the B pillar say? When did you last adjust them, and what was the temperature like at that time?

Did you check the spare tire?

It could be that the outside temperature dropped, causing the tire pressure to go down a bit. That happens around this time of year with all the cars I’ve had, including my RAV4.

How did you check the tires? Double-checking never hurts, especially with these RAV4s.

Does starting the engine drain your fuel tank instantly? Just curious, you’ve got miles and MPG but use Celsius? British?
