Saw this ad on marketplace - seller states this Yaris makes 42hp more than standard Yaris 1.5L. Is this true?
According to Wikipedia, while there was an RS version, it had only cosmetic changes. The 1.5L engine has 107bhp. There’s also a Japanese version with a 1.8L engine producing 130bhp
The ad is here
The plate reads 1nzfe which gives it around 105 to 107hp. There’s a 140hp 1.8 version available in Europe

The 140 horsepower figure is for the 2ZR. There was a JDM version with 150 horsepower from a turbocharged 1NZ, but that would be indicated on the door sticker. This one is just a standard 1NZ-FE like the US model
@StarlightSpecter
Yeah, likely it’s a 2ZR. This is definitely a standard 1NZFE
It’s not adding 42 hp over the standard North American Yaris. It may have slight power increase from the exhaust, but that’s about it. I thought it might’ve been the TRD Turbo M model due to the optional Master Kit with dual center exhaust, but this clearly isn’t one (no turbo or badging). The power from the 1.5L 1NZ-FE Japanese Vitz of this generation is usually about 107bhp, 119bhp (TRD Sports M), or up to 150bhp (TRD Turbo M). Some European models had the 1.8L 2ZR-FE but it wasn’t offered in Japan. This appears to be a typical Japanese Vitz RS with optional TRD wheels and center exhaust
No, it isn’t a turbo version
RS means Rally Sport, fun package with manual transmission, alloy wheels, and more
How do people manage to get Verossas, Mark 2 110s, and Skyline (G35) cars in the U.S. before they’re 25 years old? It always fascinates me, but no one ever seems willing to explain, for obvious reasons
@Nash
This one is in Canada. We have a 15-year rule here

Right, but the ad claims it’s the only one available in North America. I see the location and the price is in CAD. Is it really as simple as some people importing through Canada after the paperwork is sorted and driving across the border with it?
@Nash
Saying it’s the only one in North America is pretty much false. The seller has no way of knowing or proving that. A common workaround in the U.S. is the show or display exemption to get around the 25-year rule
@Flowky
I was just asking to find out how people bring them here. I know that’s not true but I see so many plated and registered cars in the US, including some as young as 8 years old. It’s wild that people go through so much effort to get these kinds of cars sooner

It’s an import from Japan. Did you look at the photos?

I have no clue what you’re trying to say. Japan is a right-hand drive market, which is where this vehicle is from. They’re made right-hand drive, there’s no conversion needed
