What would you guys offer for this 2008 Tundra?

Hey everyone… curious to know what you all think a fair price is for a 2008 Tundra Limited (5.7L V8) with 135,000 miles on it. I took it for a test drive today and everything felt solid. Mechanically it seems sound, but there are some scratches and normal wear on the seats and console.

I really like the truck, but the dealer wants $18,999 which seems too high. Based on what I saw on KBB, I feel like $14,000 is more reasonable for my area.

What do you all think? Am I off base? Anything I might be missing?

You could try getting them to agree to that price out the door, or maybe ask them to include a timing belt service at your preferred shop.

I bought a 2007 Tundra (DC, 5.7, Limited) with about the same miles a few years ago for just under $15k. Still driving it—it just hit 220k.

By the way, ignore the timing belt comment… the 5.7 uses a timing chain, not a belt.

That truck’s pushing 20 years old… no way I’d pay close to $19k for it, even with decent mileage.

I paid $12.5k plus tax for an '08 5.7 double cab 4x4 base model with 118k miles from a private seller just last month. Might give you a ballpark.

Man I’m jealous… I bought mine during peak covid pricing!

That’s super helpful, thanks. Mind sharing what state you’re in?

Just a heads-up, you can get Carfax reports off Etsy for under 2 bucks.

Wait seriously??

I paid $17k for an '08 with 110k miles… that was 7 years ago. I’d go for something newer if you can swing it.

If it’s 2WD, I’d say it’s maybe worth $12k tops. Depends a lot on your ZIP code though.

That’s covid price. I paid for my 07 limited with 150k miles around $18800 in Philly suburbs. Since I put in another $3k in tires, apple car play, backup camera, a few cosmetics, water pump and spark plugs, coolant, shit I’ve spent a lot!

I think 18k is too much maybe $16k.

@Shaye
Mine has the TRD exhaust too… don’t see that too often on these.

Paid $10,000 2 years ago with 180,000 miles

Just bought a ‘07 SR5 Crew 5.7 2WD with 123k miles for $10.5k from a private seller in South Carolina. There are deals out there, just takes some patience.

I just picked up a clean ‘08 5.7 4x4 CrewMax for $9087.43 out the door. Has 205k miles. Black with a spotless beige interior. Two owners—first sold it at 34k miles, second kept it until now. Came with both keys, the valet key, all the original paperwork, and a clean Carfax. No accidents, no rust, no weird undercoating either. Being a Texas truck, I still worried about rust, but it’s totally clean.
