Which is more fun… Supra or Corvette?

I’m looking for a weekend car that I can also take to the track. My Supra just became my second car since I got a new daily. I love it, but I’ve been considering the C8 Z06 too. My Supra is stock, but I’d do a lot of mods to get it past 500whp. The Z06 costs way more but is much faster and built for the track. It looks and sounds amazing, but I’m not sure if I’d enjoy it as much as my Supra. What do you guys think?
Edit: I’m not after the best lap times, just the most fun. Mostly for weekend drives and maybe a few track days a year.

A $60K car vs a $120K+ car? You already have the Supra? What’s the real question here?

At my local track events, a stock Supra with just track tires and pads wins almost every time. There are plenty of C8s around, and they aren’t even close. We’re talking 10-second gaps. Of course, driver skill matters, but if you put in the seat time, the Supra is a serious track weapon.

The guy I’m talking about gets lap times that put him up against Porsche 911 Turbos and GT3 RSs. That’s the level this car can reach with the right driver.

If it were me, I’d save the extra money for mods, tires, gas, and track time. I see C8s everywhere, mostly driven by older guys. I barely see any Supras.

@Barbara
Same here when I was choosing between these two. Corvettes are everywhere, but a Supra? Rare sight. And let’s be real… most Vette drivers are older guys. I’m 25, so the Supra felt like the right choice.

I’m at the track right now. The Supra is crazy fun. Only mods I have are wheels, tires, pads, and fluid, and I still pass plenty of Corvettes. Obviously, driver skill plays a huge role, but the Supra holds its own.

You’re looking for fun? Just get a Miata lol.

That’s what we did! :joy:

I think you’d have more fun with the Corvette. That’s literally what it was made for.

Mid-engine setup on the Corvette should make it better for the track.

Yeah, but I’m more interested in which car is just more fun to drive, not necessarily the fastest.

…Miata?

Or maybe a GR86 or BRZ. Cheap, fun, and a little more space.

The C8 is a better car in every way, even if you tune the Supra to the same horsepower.

Corvette sounds like fun with that V8, but if you’re after pure driving fun, nothing beats a lightweight car. Between the Supra and C8, the Supra is closer to that feeling. If you want max fun, keep the Supra and pick up a cheap Miata.

How much track experience do you have? Beginner, intermediate, or advanced?

I did one of those exotic track rental days. Drove a GT4, Huracan STO, and GT500. Five laps each.

@DavidDaniel1
You should track the Supra as it is first. Rental laps are fun, but they don’t really let you learn the car or the track properly. Get some real seat time before making a big switch.

@DavidDaniel1
Take your Supra to an actual track event. The C8 is an awesome track car, but if you’re still learning, the Supra is plenty. The more you track, the more you’ll start caring about pushing the limits—and that’s where lap times start to matter.

If it’s for the track, consider a Porsche 718 Cayman S over both of these.

I wanted the 2024 electric Vette. Fully loaded, $126K, but no manual option?! What was Chevy thinking? Every other Vette generation had a manual option. Best-looking Vette ever, but no stick. I went with the Supra instead, and no regrets.
