Who even knows what half of these charges are about?

I think EVAP service is just spraying a Lysol-like product into the vents. That $168 would make more sense if they weren’t already opening things up for the other stuff.

Yep, that’s basically it. They showed me the product they use, and I looked it up. It’s a $9 item.

This feels like straight-up robbery!

I declined it all, and they came back like, ‘Well, the filters…’ Nope, not paying that much for a $30 part.

The lengths they’ll go for a dollar…

When my free oil changes run out, I’m outta there.

Dealerships are all like that, though. It’s not going to change if you switch.

We sell filters for $20-37 depending on type and charge $5 to install. Can’t imagine why anyone would pay dealer rates.

Check your owner’s manual for service schedules. Don’t do anything unless it’s listed there, and look up tutorials on YouTube for easy DIYs.

Dealers probably pay less than $15 for these filters. What a rip-off!

Get a reusable air filter and cabin filter, and clean them yourself. They pay for themselves over time.

I’ll change anyone’s cabin filter for $90 :sweat_smile:

So that’s what they’re calling it these days, huh?

Looks like you’ve figured out that filter replacement is a DIY win. I cleaned my throttle body at 145k miles, didn’t notice any big changes, just a small idle shift.

The filters and hybrid fan clean are worth doing, but you can ask for a discount. If you’re willing to DIY, it’s definitely cheaper.

The air filters are just a quick swap in and out.

The hybrid fan? I’ll have to look into what that requires.

@Wynn
If you’re comfortable, go for it. Some people just prefer the convenience of having it done.

@Wynn
If your car has a filter over the vent, you just clean the lint out. If not, the fan has to be removed, which takes a bit more effort.

Unless something is causing issues, only do what’s listed in your scheduled maintenance. YouTube can show you how to do most of it easily.

Most of those items are actually in Toyota’s maintenance schedule, except maybe the AC service.
