Thinking about switching from Geico because my monthly rate is way too high.
What company do you use and how much are you paying per month?

Our Progressive policy for two cars with full coverage just went up by $1,000 a year. Not happy about it.

I dropped Progressive after 5 years. They quoted me $1,920 for 6 months—only extra coverage I had was $10K underinsured motorist. Switched to State Farm and got a $790 policy for the same coverage.

Ugh, that sucks. Sorry to hear that.

Thanks. Honestly, it’s just another reason for us to leave this state. Everything is getting too expensive. Hope you find a cheaper policy!

Funny enough, I’m about to switch to Progressive. They’re about $50/month cheaper than Geico for me and even increasing my partner’s coverage. Not a huge difference, but every bit helps.
@Mikel
Interesting! Actually, I just checked, and we’re on Geico, not Progressive. Either way, our rate still shot up. We’re sticking with Geico when we move since our rate will drop by about $500.
This state is terrible for insurance costs.
I have a 2020 Camry with full coverage and a 2007 Prius with minimum coverage. We pay $132/month. Been with State Farm for 17 years. Had Geico before that.

I have a 2007 Honda Fit and I’m paying $165/month. Feels high to me.
@Thorne
What kind of coverage do you have? Any accidents? Your age also matters. All those things factor in.
@Thorne
My 2023 Volvo is $125/month, so yeah, you’re probably overpaying.

That’s a solid deal for Orlando.
I swear most people here claiming to have cheap ‘full coverage’ have super basic plans with low liability limits and no uninsured motorist coverage.
My dad thought he was saving money with some $75/month plan until I showed him that it barely covered anything and would leave him screwed in an accident.
@Ashwin
Not far off. I just switched from Progressive to State Farm and dropped from $860/6mo to $301/6mo. The catch? No collision/comprehensive. Thinking of adding it soon, but for now, I’m saving a ton.
Was with Progressive for 12 years. No accidents, good credit, all the discounts. Never thought to shop around until now. Definitely doing it every year going forward.
@Ashwin
Yeah, I finance and have a ticket from last year, so I’m stuck paying a ridiculous amount no matter what I do.
Best way to get lower insurance rates: move out of Florida.
I shopped around recently, got quotes on my own and through a broker. Geico was still the cheapest option for me.
Had State Farm for 5 years with 100/300 coverage and uninsured motorist. My premium went from $450/6 months to $1,100. Just switched to Travelers for $800. No accidents, no tickets, only drive 3,000 miles a year.
Geico, $300/month for 3 cars with 50/50/100 coverage and uninsured motorist. No accidents, work from home, low mileage. Gonna shop around next year.
Had Geico for 3 years, $124/month for a Prius. Now paying $145 for a Honda SUV. Hoping Progressive’s snapshot discount helps. State Farm quoted me $250, lol.
No accidents, no tickets, been driving for 12 years.
