I’m thinking of getting a new vehicle, and I’ve been pretty set on the 2024 Tacoma for the last year. Now that I’m ready, I keep going back and forth on it. I know I don’t need it, but I want it. I just like the way it looks and the feel of it, honestly. I’d take it out on some fire roads with my Aussie, but let’s face it, other 4WD vehicles could do that too.
I’m also looking at the 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness, which seems more practical. I even test-drove it, but then I spotted a Tacoma on the road and couldn’t stop staring.
Anyone else have a Tacoma just because they wanted one, even if they don’t really need a truck? Just looking for some justification here!

Honestly, very few people need a truck. It’s all about what you want and shaping your life around it. Trucks are about the lifestyle!
Well said! I didn’t really need a Tacoma in college, but I thought it looked cool. Fast forward 12 years, and I’ve got off-roading groups, camping trips, and a ton of hobbies I wouldn’t have without my truck.
It’s funny how those “wants” lead to a whole lifestyle change. My Toyota has seriously taken me places I wouldn’t have explored otherwise.
I don’t need a truck every day, but it’s awesome to have one when you need it. Like, when your ex dumps you, and you have to move everything out in a hurry. That’s what convinced me to get my first Tacoma. Life has been easier ever since.
