The Camry is better than the Accord in almost every way, yet so many people don’t agree. It’s been the top-selling sedan for over 25 years for good reasons. It’s more reliable, gets better gas mileage, comes with more safety features, starts at a lower price, has more trim options, comes standard as a hybrid, and even offers AWD. What’s the deal?

Car and Driver compared the Camry and Accord recently and called the Camry ‘spectacular.’ People took that as some kind of slight against the Accord. Here’s the link: https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a63081891/honda-accord-hybrid-sport-l-vs-toyota-camry-xse-awd-compared/
I love my 2016 Camry. Plan on keeping it until it’s done for good.
Honda has the side-view camera when you use the turn signal, which Toyota still doesn’t have. I sell Toyota, and while the Camry is an amazing car, it’s not better than the Accord in every single way.
Who’s even hating on it?
Most complaints I’ve seen about the Camry are that it looks the same as the last version. The updates were mainly to the interior and engine.
I bought a car last year and looked at the 2025 Camry, the hybrid Accord, and the Crown. I ended up going with the Crown.
For me, the Camry wasn’t appealing because everyone has one. I wanted something different. Plus, the price difference between the Camry I wanted and the Crown was small, and I got a great deal.
The new Accord feels dull compared to older models. If you combined the 2021 Accord’s style with the features of the 2025 Camry, it’d be perfect.
Overall, I’m really happy I picked the Crown instead.
The car is just kind of boring.

Careful, Camry fans might come for you if you say that about their favorite car

I think they’re great cars, but let’s be honest, they’re not exactly exciting. The new Accord isn’t much better in that department though.
Don’t waste your time arguing with people in this forum about cars. It’s always stuff like, ‘Should I buy a Hyundai, a European car, or a Tesla vs a Camry?’ Then they start saying things like, ‘The Camry is slow or boring’ or bring up nonsense like Toyota selling trucks to bad guys. Those people will be stuck with expensive repairs while Camry owners are just cruising along.
I’ve got both an old Camry and an old European Accord. The Accord drives way better, but the Camry has been way more reliable. They’re built for totally different types of drivers.
The timing belt replacement costs between $1,100 and $1,500. Toyota should’ve used a better timing chain that lasts as long as the engine with regular oil changes.

That’s pretty standard. Most modern timing belts and water pumps cost over $1,200 to replace, even on older cars.

I’ll do it myself for under $200. A Saturday’s work and I save over $1,000.
