Why does my 2025 SE infotainment keep disconnecting when using apple carplay

i saw this talked about before but i just got my 2025 SE a week ago with the multimedia package (12 inch screen) and noticed that apple carplay skips when playing spotify. then it disconnects and reconnects after about 15 seconds.

i realized it happened when i entered a school zone and got a notification about it. i turned off that notification to see if it helps.

anyone else have this happen? is there a fix or do we just wait for an update

could be interference. if it happens at the same spot every time, something around there might be disrupting the signal. i gave up on wireless and just use a cord. plus, the wireless charger overheats my phone so it’s not worth it.

how do you turn off the school zone notification? i couldn’t figure it out.

you have to turn off RSA (road sign assist) in your gauge cluster settings.

i use a wired connection to avoid these issues. wireless carplay uses wifi and can be affected by interference.

if wireless disconnects and won’t reconnect, go to bluetooth settings, select your phone, and re-enable the ‘use for carplay’ option.

@Mica
so you can switch back to a wired usb connection instead of using wireless?

yeah, plug your phone into the usb-a port on the left before turning on the car.

if wireless carplay is still active instead of wired, hold the power button to restart the radio.

you can also turn off ‘use for carplay’ in your phone’s bluetooth settings to force wired mode, but i leave it on so i can use wireless for short trips.

@Mica
thanks, i’ll try that.

i’m having the same problem but with android auto. it disconnects and when it reconnects, the audio sounds like a scratched cd skipping. not sure if it’s my phone or the car.
