Hello everybody! I’ve been having some trouble with my Toyota tracker recently, and I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issue. For the past few days, it seems like it’s not working properly – it either loses signal or just doesn’t update the location correctly. I’ve tried restarting it and even checked the connections, but no luck so far. Has anyone else had similar problems? Any advice on how to fix it would be really appreciated!
I have had my VIN change through the process - maybe this happened? I went back to my dealer site and saw my vehicle with a different VIN.

Dealing with a malfunctioning Toyota tracker can indeed be frustrating.
Here are steps to troubleshoot the issue and find potential solutions:
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Check Toyota Website: Visit the Toyota website to check for any widespread issues or service alerts related to tracker malfunctions. Look up “[Toyota model year] tracker issues” or access the owner’s portal for your vehicle.
- Update Mobile App/Online Platform: Ensure that any mobile app or online platform you use to access tracker data is updated to the latest version. Outdated app versions can sometimes cause glitches.
- Verify Cellular Signal Strength: Since the tracker relies on a cellular signal for transmitting location data, check if you are in an area with weak cellular reception. Poor signal strength may be impacting tracker performance.
- Monitor Battery Life: Although less common, a low battery in the tracker itself could disrupt functionality. Refer to your Toyota manual to check for any indicators of low tracker battery.

Thanks for sharing these troubleshooting steps for dealing with a malfunctioning Toyota tracker. Checking the Toyota website for service alerts, updating the mobile app or online platform, verifying cellular signal strength, and monitoring tracker battery life are all practical ways to address issues effectively.
The vin you have is a temporary vin. Request your salesperson what the permanent vin is. That will show up in the tracker. Permanent vin won’t be available until vehicle is built.
Is it really possible to have a temporary VIN though? I think the vehicle identification number is usually engraved on your car and having a temporary one is next to impossible. I think maybe at the time Timothy was checking the website might have had an issue. He needs to retry later and see if the issue persists.
