Why You Need to Wash Salt and Brine off Your Rig Right Away…

Road brine has a high salt concentration, about 6.5 times saltier than ocean water at 23%. This strong salt can seriously damage your vehicle. It causes rust to form faster because it speeds up the electrochemical process that makes metals corrode. Plus, the heat your vehicle generates helps the rust grow quicker, leading to mechanical problems, rust, and a shorter vehicle lifespan. This not only affects your car’s condition but also lowers its resale value.

This is the worst part of living in New England. I get an unlimited car wash pass every winter. I hate when they touch the paint, but I hate the underbody rust even more. Great advice!

I do the same. Paid for the undercarriage wash. I really need to clean the underside manually too. The frame has a lip under the cab, and salt just sits there. Same with inside.

Or just fluid film your truck once a year.

I just used two cans of Blaster’s Surface Shield on my new 2024.

Fluid Film or Woolwax on every steel surface on the bottom. Do this at least once a year. It takes a couple of hours and costs around $80 for 6 cans.

There’s a product called Salt Away that people use for boats. You just connect the sprayer to your hose and spray it on.

That’s why I bought a Ryobi undercarriage pressure washer attachment for my pressure washer. I’ll be washing the underbody all winter.

I bought one from Home Depot too. It’s great for getting road salt and mud off the frame. I use it on my ATV as well.

Do you run the hose out of the house? I may need one of these.

@Toryn
lol, that question might be hard for some. Winter usually means it’s cold and might snow.

When it’s cold, you shouldn’t use the hose outside.

Hard stuff to manage.
