Would you pay 30k for a modded 2018 wrx sti with 42k miles?

So this 2018 WRX STI just sold for $30,000 on Cars&Bids. It had 42k miles, one owner, and lived its whole life in California. Dude bought it new in 2017, modded it with all the usual Subie stuff—rebuilt engine, tweaked suspension and brakes, some JDM bits, plus Sony and Kicker audio upgrades. Pretty clean overall, just normal wear, chips and scratches. It had a minor rear-end bump back in 2018, but still a clean title. I’m just wondering, would y’all pay Legacy money for a lightly modded STI like this?

Honestly 30k doesn’t sound bad if everything’s solid. People pay more for stock ones with fewer mods. Rebuilt engine might scare some folks though.

Yeah the rebuild made me pause too. Wonder what went wrong originally. But if it was done right, could be a plus.

That price ain’t too crazy. Legacy starts around that anyway and doesn’t even come close performance-wise. STI has real rally bones.

True, but Legacy’s more comfy. If you’re not chasing 300hp on backroads every weekend, it’s hard to justify the trade-offs.

Mods can be hit or miss. Like who rebuilt it? What parts were used? I’ve seen too many hack jobs ruin these cars.

That’s why I’d wanna see receipts or shop details. Otherwise it’s just trust-the-seller vibes.

World Rally Blue always slaps tho. Add the wing and those green Brembos and it’s peak STI energy lol.

Facts. WRB with red interior hits different. Even if you’re not into modded stuff, the color combo is :fire:.

What’s the average resale on these? 30k sounds high but IDK what they go for lately.

Seller got it close to average—market value over the last 5 years has been about 30.5k. Some went as high as 58.5k, others as low as 14k. Depends on condition and mods.

I’d probably go Impreza if I was budget conscious. Starts around 23k now, not as fun but decent daily.

Yeah but it’s FWD unless you bump up trims. And still way less exciting to drive lol.

Props to the owner for keeping it clean and driving it. Too many STIs just sit in garages these days.

For real. 42k miles is like nothing for 7 years. Dude enjoyed it but didn’t thrash it.
