2026 Subaru Outback spotted in Orange County. Is it really an Outback?

That has to be an Ascent, no way the Outback is that big, right?

I hope it’s not the Outback. Too big, too boxy. Wouldn’t feel the same.

It’s been heading toward an SUV style for years. This just seems like the next step.

@Bradley
That’s why the Forester exists! At least, you’d think. But I wouldn’t be surprised.

Forester used to be a wagon too. Back when the Outback was just a trim level. Impreza Outbacks were some of Subaru’s best.

@Akira
I still have my ‘01 Forester S and don’t want to part with it. Drives like a crossover but looks like a wagon.

If it runs, keep it going. That design is iconic.

It’s only going to get bigger from here.

@Bradley
I thought they made it a bit smaller after the Ascent came out. The 6th gen looks less bulky than the 5th. But after checking the specs, they’re almost the same size. If this new one is actually an Outback, it’s definitely moving toward a more boxy look.

Everyone with a 2020-2025 just got a price increase lol.

@Tegan
Just got back from the dealer. Ordered a 2025 Outback Onyx. Looks like we dodged a bullet.

Honestly, it’s already too big and too boxy.

Once they ended the Legacy, the Outback was bound to change.

Someone mentioned on another forum that they saw the prototype in Vegas and it looks somewhere between a Land Cruiser and a Telluride. Digital dash, new infotainment, and XT/non-XT variants.

@Aeron
New infotainment? I just hope they bring back physical buttons instead of relying on giant screens for everything. It’s one of the reasons I didn’t buy a newer model.

That same person mentioned they’re bringing back physical knobs.

I’m tired of these massive screens. Physical buttons are much easier to use while driving.

@Aeron
Thanks for the update. Kinda reminds me of a Toyota Highlander now.

@Aeron
Sounds disappointing.
