Dealer turned off the engine sound enhancement on my 2024 truck

Now I really love this truck! That was honestly the best change I’ve made so far.

It’s a Tundra, not a Freightliner. I wouldn’t mind the engine sound enhancement if we could control the noise level ourselves, but when it’s set to max, it’s just not enjoyable. A level 3 out of 10 would have been a better choice from the factory.

By the way, not one person at the dealer knew about the enhancement except for a technician who walked by during drop-off and said, ‘best mod I ever made to my Tundra!’

Sound enhancement is one of the dumbest features around. It’s like when people with bad credit try to make their cheap cars sound cool.

It can cause health problems too. Companies should make it an optional feature.

You should change the trigger for mirror folding to ignition on/off instead of door locks. It’s way better.

My issue is with Canadian winters. You don’t want to fold your mirrors for those 8 months because of ice build-up.

Just push the switch forward and they will stay open.

Exactly. I just lock them when it freezes.

Yeah, I guess that would work. Better than having it set to lock on the remote only.

I need to go back to the dealer for one of the mirrors anyway because it makes a horrible noise.

How is that better? Don’t you check your mirrors before opening the door?

I realized I didn’t like them folding in and out every time I need something. I just look back or use the rearview mirror to check for traffic.

I’m constantly in and out of my truck for work, and the folding doesn’t bother me. It’s a nice visual cue that my truck is locked when I’m far away.

Good point about the visual.

That’s the only thing I liked about the GLC300 I had last year.

I never worried when I went into a store and the mirrors were up.

I hit my shin on the retractable running boards today just grabbing something from the trunk.

No joke. The first thing I did was use the Carista app with my OBDLink LX scanner. It was worth it to pay for a one-month subscription to customize everything instead of paying the dealer. Another thing to change is lowering the loud default volume of all the warning beeps. Shame on Toyota for not making these settings easy to access through the vehicle screen.

I bought a Platinum with acoustic glass. I want it quiet. Why would they enable fake engine noise in the cabin by default?! I use this truck for hauling and towing, not for showing off.

100% agree on the acoustic glass.

They make a truck that is super quiet, then pump in all this loud noise. It’s crazy.

You should get a Carista module. You can turn off the sound and even change the blinkers to flash five times instead of three with one touch. There are many options.

Amazon links don’t work for me, but I think I found it. Thanks.
